Together with an international group of scientists, Mahdi Motagh, professor for radar remote sensing with a co-appointment at IPI and at GFZ, Potsdam, has been successful with a submission of a paper to Science, one of the most the renown scientific journals worldwide. He and his colleagues have investigated the impact of a clandestine nuclear test, which North Korea carried out in September 2017. The TerraSAR-X images used reveal that the Earth surface was moved by up to 3,5 m in planimetry and 0,5 m in height.
